TITLE: Reference Librarian

QUALIFICATIONS: An M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited library school; J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; knowledge of current information technologies and publishing formats, database and Internet searching proficiencies, and a mastery of legal research sources and techniques using both print and electronic materials; knowledge of web publishing tools helpful; a superb work ethic, excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong service orientation, a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, and the ability to thrive in a very fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director of the Law Library, the Reference Librarian provides in-depth research and reference services to the faculty and students of the Law School, as well as the University, the legal community, and the general public. Assists with legal research instruction. Oversees the public services department, including supervision of the Circulation and Reserve Specialist. Handles faculty and student interlibrary loan requests. Prepares library publications, such as research guides and bibliographies. Assists with collection development work and testing/evaluation of new electronic products. Serves on University committees. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or the Associate Director of the Law Library.

RANK AND SALARY: Academic Professional with university faculty rank and status. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Texas Wesleyan University Dee J. Kelly Law Library - Public Services Librarian (PartTime/Adjunct Faculty)

SUMMARY
The Public Services Librarian, a parttime/adjunct faculty position reporting to the Head of Public Services, is responsible for providing coverage of the reference desk, research assistance to the law faculty, and assistance with library projects. The hours for this position will be Saturdays and Sundays, 1:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Contracts for parttime/adjunct faculty members are issued on a semester by semester basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provide service to law library patrons at the reference desk using online, print, and microform resources. Provide legal and interdisciplinary research assistance to law school faculty members. Provide assistance with projects that may encompass working with any or all library departments. Other duties as assigned by the Head of Public Services.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Masters in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited school or J.D. from ABA accredited school is required.

Previous law library experience is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Substantial knowledge of the legal research resources. Substantial knowledge of the legal research process. Substantial knowledge of both traditional and online legal research systems. Strong customer service orientation. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Proficiency in the use office productivity software.
